Agent Reach Setup Guide

Agent Reach is an open-source installer and health checker that connects an agent to separate tools for search and content retrieval across 13 or more named platforms.

Before you start

You need Python, a terminal, Git, and enough permission to install local tools. Some sources need separate logins, cookies, a proxy, or extra software. Use a test account where allowed, protect session cookies like passwords, and read the project's installation guide.

• Dry run: previews actions without performing the install.
• Safe mode: uses the project's lower-change installation path.
• Doctor: checks which platform integrations are ready or missing.

2. Preview the actions with --dry-run.
3. Use --safe for the first install.
4. Run agent-reach doctor.
5. Configure one platform at a time using the project's current instructions.
6. Test with public, non-sensitive content before adding any login.

Things to know

Agent Reach coordinates other tools. It does not make every site free, remove paywalls, or guarantee access through bot protection. Platform changes can break a connector. Logged-in access may violate a site's rules depending on how it is used. Respect terms, copyright, rate limits, and privacy.

If something goes wrong

• If the command is missing, return to the project's current install guide and verify your Python environment.
• If doctor marks a source unavailable, install only the dependency named for that source.
• If login is required, check whether public access is enough before supplying a cookie.
• If a platform blocks requests, stop instead of trying to defeat the block.

Final check

The setup passes when agent-reach doctor identifies the exact sources you configured, a public test returns the expected content, and no unneeded login, proxy, or background service was added.
