Google Voice and Audio Activity Cleanup

Google may save audio from interactions with Search, Assistant, and Maps when Web & App Activity is on and Include voice and audio activity is enabled. Google says the audio setting is off unless you choose to turn it on.

Check the setting, listen to saved items, delete selected recordings or all matching activity, and choose an auto-delete period.

Before you start

Sign in to the Google account used on your phone or Assistant devices. If several accounts are signed in, check each one. Know that deleting all Web & App Activity can remove more than audio.

Terms to know

• Web & App Activity: Google account history for searches and activity across supported services.
• Voice and audio activity: recordings from supported voice interactions when the setting is enabled.
• My Activity: the page where saved account activity can be reviewed and deleted.

Step-by-step

1. Open My Activity or Google Account → Data & privacy.
2. Under History settings, open Web & App Activity.
3. Review Include voice and audio activity and turn it off if you do not want future supported recordings saved.
4. Choose Manage activity. Items with the audio icon include a recording. Open Details to listen.
5. Delete individual items, or choose Delete → All time after reading the scope carefully.
6. Review auto-delete if you want an automatic retention limit.

This is not proof that a phone records every conversation. It covers supported interactions with Google Search, Assistant, and Maps. Google notes that related data may exist under other settings.

If something goes wrong

• If no audio appears, confirm the correct account and date range.
• If you see "Transcript not available," background noise may have prevented transcription.
• If you are unsure about All time, delete one item first and confirm the result.

Final check

Pass when you verified the correct account, reviewed the audio toggle, opened at least one saved item if present, and confirmed the deletion scope before acting.
